On Nov. 3, the Lung Cancer Research Foundation is hosting the “Athens Free to Breathe” Run/Walk at Sandy Creek Park starting at 10:30 a.m. Attendees can participate in a 5K run/walk or a one-mile walk around the park.
The event will help to raise lung cancer awareness and increase research funding.
“Lung cancer is the number one cause of cancer death not only here in the U.S., but around the world,” says Brendon M. Stiles, MD, Lung Cancer Research Foundation Board chair. “This is the eleventh year we’ve gathered in Athens to fight lung cancer as a community. And together, we are making a difference by funding research that has the potential to improve outcomes for those affected by lung cancer.”
The fee to register as an untimed runner or walker is $25. Registration for timed runners is $30. All proceeds benefit the Lung Cancer Research Foundation. Visit lcrf.org/Athens to register.
