Scientists have found out that blood pressure drugs taken by millions worldwide could raise the risk of lung cancer. The study, published yesterday in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) shows that patients on Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors were 14 per cent more likely to develop the disease than those on other types of drugs.

The medication helps to relax blood vessels.Scientists, however, believe the drugs cause the accumulation of chemicals called bradykinin on the lung, which in turn, leads to cancer. But other experts cast doubt on the findings and pointed out that smoking could cause the ailment.
