Lung cancer drug added to PBS scheme

A lung-cancer treatment and medication to help patients with high cholesterol are being added to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, saving Australians thousands of dollars.

An immunotherapy drug to treat patients with advanced lung cancer and one to treat a genetic high cholesterol condition will be available at the reduced price from next month.

"These listings with help the thousands of Australians and their families fighting lung cancer and the devastating impact of heart disease," Health Minister Greg Hunt said on Sunday.
