ALA urges public to get screened for lung cancer. (WICS)

ILLINOIS (WICS/WRSP) —

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month.

During this month, the American Lung Association in Illinois encourages people at risk for lung cancer to get screened.

To date, 137,000 Americans have taken the test to learn about their risk for lung cancer.

Just this year, over 9,000 people in Illinois have been diagnosed with lung cancer.

To date, lung cancer is the nation's leading cause of cancer for both men and women.
