Medical Monday: Lung Cancer treatment advances

The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer said the disease is still responsible for about 27% of all cancer deaths. Local doctors are working to change that.

Dr. Kurt Oettel, director of the Gundersen Health System cancer center, said advances in immune therapy and cancer genetics are the big advances. These methods allow doctors to better target the specifics of each case after a lung cancer diagnosis.
